Last week, 2015 Glidden-Ralston graduate and current Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) student, Cierra Steinbach, donated 12 care packages to patients at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. The inspiration for the donation came from a service project assignment in her Composition 2 class. “When we were given the assignment, I knew I wanted to do something for our own hospital here in Carroll,” Steinbach says. “Many choose to do their service projects in other communities, but I felt I could make a difference locally,” she adds. The six adult baskets included lotions, shampoo, socks, activity books, pens and mints while the six children’s baskets contained coloring books, crayons, puzzles, socks and personal hygiene items. Steinbach is working toward an associate’s degree and works at the Buckle in Carroll during the school year and at the Dairy Mart in Glidden in the summer.
