CCSD Sees Increase In Certified Enrollment For 2017-18 School Year

As student populations have continued to decline in recent years for rural schools, the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Directors is pleased to see an increase for the 2017-18 school year. Certified enrollment, which is used to calculate how much funding the district will receive from the state, was 23 students higher than last year at 1,701.97. Superintendent, Rob Cordes, says getting enrollment right is absolutely critical to a district.

Certified enrollment weighs students on a variety of factors including open-enrollment status, if they are home schooled and many others. In terms of actual students attending classes, CCSD totaled 1,698. Of that number, 110 have open enrolled into the district and 79 have open enrolled out.

Even though certified enrollment is up, Cordes says it is unlikely the district will see an increase in funding compared to last year.

He adds it is still a positive to see total enrollment increase. This is the first time since the 2014-15 school year that actual student enrollment has gone up. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from Monday night’s CCSD board meeting in upcoming broadcasts.
