Carroll Man Arrested On Intent To Deliver Methamphetamine Charges

A Carroll man faces multiple drug charges after being arrested last weekend. On Sunday, Oct. 8, 43-year-old Darren Joseph Cox was seen by a Carroll Police Department officer operating a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville on Highway 30 in Carroll. The officer was aware Cox did not have driving privileges in Iowa and arrested him on driving while license denied or revoked charges, a serious misdemeanor. Law enforcement was investigating Cox for the suspected selling of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest. Authorities executed a search warrant at his home in the 300 block of North Crawford Street and uncovered narcotics. He is now also charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a class C felony and possession of a controlled substance—marijuana, a serious misdemeanor. If found guilty of these charges, Cox faces up to 12 years imprisonment and a maximum fine of nearly $12,000. Cox remains in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 19.
