Carroll Man Arrested For Stealing More Than $1,000 Worth Of Alcohol

A Carroll man has been arrested after stealing more than $1,000 worth of alcohol from the Carroll Hy-Vee over the course of three weeks. Twenty-five-year-old Rohan St. Anthony McLachlan has been charged with second degree theft, a class D felony. The string of crimes began on Aug. 30 when McLachlan took a bottle of Grey Goose vodka and left the store without paying. The thefts continued until Sept. 20. In that time McLachlan took 21 bottles of Grey Goose vodka, two bottles of Belvedere vodka, one bottle of Paul Masson brandy and a bottle of Hawkeye vodka. Surveillance cameras captured all the thefts on film. When an officer with the Carroll Police Department went to arrest McLachlan on Sunday, Sept. 24, McLachlan attempted to flee from authorities and was found a short time later in a nearby apartment. For this, he has also been charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. McLachlan remains in custody on a $5,000 bond at the Carroll County jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 5 at the Carroll County Courthouse.
