The Carroll Hy-Vee on Highway 30 announced Monday morning the opening of a Starbucks coffeehouse in its store. Store Director, Brad Auge, says the chance to expand Hy-Vee’s services occurred when Carroll County State Bank decided to buy out the remainder of their lease last October.
Construction on the new chain is scheduled to begin in February, and the new location will open for business in March in the bank’s old location near the front of the store. According to Auge, the Starbucks will be operated by Hy-Vee.
He says they are working on getting staff positions filled.
Auge estimates up to 20 new full-time and part-time jobs will be created by the new coffeehouse. Carroll County State Bank will no longer provide services at the Hy-Vee location after Sunday, Jan. 15.
