The Carroll County Relay for Life Kick-Off Rally will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) in the Carrollton Inn ballroom. As one of the most successful Relays in the nation, Carroll County residents are staunch supporters, year-in and year-out. Though people get involved for a variety of personal reasons, co-chair Brandon Vonnahme, who is serving for a second year with his wife Teresa, says it is not only a way of giving back, it is a learning experience and a team effort each year.
Kevin and Erin Milligan are in the first year as co-chairs, and Kevin said this has been an amazing experience so far. He said it is awe-inspiring to see the members of the community, many of whom have been doing this for years, come together toward a common goal. He added the success of the Carroll County Relay is based on one of the reasons he and his wife chose to be a bigger part in the event.
American Cancer Society Relay Specialist, Kim Durst, explains what happens tonight.
Durst added that teams can register tonight for the 2017 “Carry the Fire” Relay on June 23. Teams can also register online at www.relayforlife.org under Carroll County. The rally is free and open to the public.
