Audubon County Sheriff, Todd Johnson, was given the honor of presenting the Evelyn Covington Scholarship to Audubon High School Senior, Garrett Inman, at the school’s recent class night. The scholarship was renamed for Covington, who was a Linn County deputy and also serving as the Iowa State Sheriff’s and Deputies’ Association (ISSDA) President when she was involved in a wintry crash that killed her passenger and left her disabled. Each year, the ISSDA scholarship committee reviews applicants’ and supporters’ letters and their overall accomplishments to determine winners. The committee is made up of sheriffs, deputies and sheriff support staff.
