Arcadia Teen Leads Authorities On High-Speed Chase Monday Night

A juvenile male was injured during a high-speed chase that started in Carroll on Monday night and reached speeds up to 112 miles per hour. Carroll Chief of Police, Brad Burke, says the incident started at approximately 9:42 p.m., when an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a speed higher than the posted 35 miles per hour. The vehicle was headed north on Highway 71, just past the junction of Highway 30, and then turned back to the west on Heires Ave. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle for the speeding infraction, but instead of pulling over, it sped up.

Burke says another vehicle on Highway 30 saw the lights of the officer in pursuit and attempted to pull over onto the gravel at the right side of the road.

The 16-year-old male from Arcadia was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of unknown injuries. Burke says charges pending are for operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor, eluding, which becomes a class D felony at that rate of speed, and various other traffic infractions.
