At their annual fall potluck on Monday, Oct. 17, the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary presented the sixth $25,000 installment in support of their $150,000 pledge to the St. Anthony Pastoral Care Endowment. Auxiliary Co-Presidents, Jan Potthoff and Joan Hannasch, presented the check to St. Anthony President and CEO, Ed Smith and Development Director, Trish Roberts. “Each of Our 372 Auxiliary volunteers has an important and valuable role in welcoming our patients and families at St. Anthony,” said Smith. “They run the coffee shop, greet patients and make blankets for newborns and other patients at our hospital.” In addition to a fall fashion show, attendees at the potluck received updates on the recently announced Garden View assisted living facility, the construction progress on the St. Anthony Denison clinic and three new physicians: Dr. Patrick Courtney; Dr. Sam Dvorak; and Dr. Randal Hess. The Auxiliary supports many hospital projects throughout the year and provides scholarships to students from Carroll and Kuemper schools who are entering a nursing program, scholarships for Des Moines Area Community College nursing students and donations to the Iowa Health Education and Research Foundation for health care-related scholarships. Upcoming Auxiliary events include a Pampered Chef sale on Thursday, Oct. 27, the holiday sale on Wednesday, Nov. 2 and a linen sale on Monday, Nov. 7.
