See How Farming Was Done In Days Gone By This Weekend Near Jefferson

This coming weekend, July 30 and 31, the public is invited to participate in historic farm reenactments at Jefferson’s annual Old-Fashioned Threshing Bee. This is a rare opportunity to see how oats were harvested through the use of steam and gas powered equipment prior to 1940, then how those oats got pitched into the threshing machine by hand. The thresher would then separate out the grain from the chaff. Threshing demonstrations are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday. A steam plow demonstration will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. In addition to the demonstrations, there will be a tractor ride on Sunday at 7 am. And an antique tractor and truck show throughout the weekend. A free BBQ dinner will be served to attendees at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. The bee is located at 1176 M Avenue northwest of Jefferson.
