At the City of Sac City Council Meeting last week, the council approved the purchase of a used Ford Interceptor from the Sac County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office will be upgrading vehicles, and Sac City officials saw a potential to fill a need in the city’s fleet. The vote passed three to two at the meeting with the dissenters believing this purchase was more of a want than a need. The new vehicle was purchased for $5,000 and will serve as a multi-use vehicle for the city. City Administrator Adam Ledford believes mile per mile this purchase is more cost effective than paying city employees for mileage.
