Regional Unemployment Report Shows Unemployment Rate Dropping

Western Iowa Advantage released their unemployment report for July 2016 today (Tuesday, Aug. 23). Most counties in our region saw slight declines in unemployment with only two counties seeing an increase. Audubon and Greene counties both saw a 0.2 percent decrease in unemployment. Audubon decreased from 3.8 percent to 3.6, and Greene decreased from four percent to 3.8. Only Adair and Sac Counties saw an increase in unemployment, but those changes were small. Adair increased from 3.1 percent to 3.2, and Sac County increased from 3.2 percent to 3.3. Guthrie County saw no change to their unemployment rates, and Crawford County continues to see its unusually high unemployment rate for the region drop to 5.2 percent from 5.3. Carroll County also experienced a slight drop in unemployment from 3.1 percent to 3 percent.
