Pioneer Days Open The Door To A World Before Electricity

The Sac County Conservation Board is providing an opportunity for people to see what the world was like before the advent of electricity, cell phones or internet. Pioneer Days in Lake View this weekend gives attendees the opportunity to try out activities that kept people busy in the past. Megan Cook, Sac County Naturalist and a presenter at Pioneer Days, goes over some of the events on display.

She says those at the showcase can also learn how to make butter, cook old-fashioned fry bread and attend a demonstration about braiding rope. Cook emphasizes this is an event anyone can attend.

The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the historical museum in Lake View, and in true pioneer fashion they plan to hold the event, rain or shine.
