One Busy Weekend Ahead For Carroll Area

We are fast approaching what may well be one of the busiest weekends in the Carroll area. In addition to the shopping opportunities and deals to be had with the Highway 141 garage sales and the Iowa tax-free shopping weekend, there is entertainment galore for everyone. Audubon hosts their annual Operation T-Bone Celebration and Glidden will be holding their FFA Fun Day on Saturday. Saturday will also bring a flurry of activities in the Graham Park area, beginning at 8 a.m. as Carrollfest gets underway with races and tournaments. And, according to Carroll Young Professionals organizer, Aileen Schwanz, there are some new and exciting competitions this year.

Then at 10 a.m., the second annual CarrollCon comic book and pop culture celebration kicks off at the band shell. At 11 a.m. the kids will take over the park area for the Kid’s Health and Safety Fair and the day will close out with a slew of fun games booths and activities and the Carrollfest concert at the band shell. Friday will also mark a couple of special events as Wild Rose Jefferson celebrates their first anniversary with a Hairball concert and the first party with a purpose will be held at the Carrollton Inn. The Kuemper class of 1986 is responsible for the Harvest for Hope fundraiser that will be raising money to support Iowa youth at Wildwood Hills Ranch near St. Charles. Class member, Tony Thelen, said this is an opportunity for everyone to get together, enjoy some food and fun and bid on some fantastic prizes, with proceeds going toward a very good cause. The class has put together a comprehensive list of prizes to be sold at live and silent auctions, including weekend getaways and event packages, tours, sports memorabilia, jewelry and much, much more.
