Food enthusiasts have a great deal to look forward to next month in Lake City. On Sunday, Sept. 11, the Lake City Betterment Association will be hosting their yearly Dell Blair Memorial Chili Cook-Off and Fall Festival. The event will close down Illinois and Washington Streets on the north and east sides of the square downtown. There will be more than just chili sizzling at this event. Chefs will also be trying their hands at bacon dishes, pies and salsas. Tiffany Green, President of the Lake City Betterment Association, says more than food will be available.
Chili cooking will begin at 7 a.m. with judging to begin at 11 a.m. Testing for the public will last until 1 p.m. Green says the forms to register for the event are easy to find.
Vendors will also open up at the event at 10 a.m., and attendees can join in a silent auction for the pies to raise money for the Lake City Betterment Association Scholarship.
