Land Developer Interested In New Housing In Sac City

Sac City may be seeing an increase to its borders after last week’s city council meeting. The city’s Housing Subcommittee was approved to enter negotiations with a land developer says City Administrator Adam Ledford.

The land is expected to be divided into 30 lots and a variety of sizes. Ledford expects these properties to be of particularly high quality.

The developer hopes to tie these lots into the existing Sac City infrastructure for services such as electricity, water and sewage, and negotiations are underway to work out the details. Currently, the cost for providing these services is estimated at around $1.3 million. Ledford says the council wants to be sure it is making the correct decision and will take its time before they move forward.

The developer has engaged an engineer and is interested in selling the properties as soon as possible, and if negotiations are successful, Sac City will have the opportunity to electively annex the new development. This will be the first major housing development Sac City has seen in nearly 30 years. The council will meet next on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at city hall at 5:00 p.m.
