In it for the long haul; Carroll Street Crew’s removal of Tuesday’s 10″ snowfall

Early on Friday morning Carroll’s city crews were still working to remove around ten inches of snow that blew in during Tuesday’s blizzard. The storm left city crews literally buried under tons of work which Street Maintenance Supervisor Tom Webber says began early that morning.

Crews began loading piles of snow onto trucks Wednesday afternoon and they hauled snow for 9 straight hours.

All of that snow was deposited at two sites; with crews still removing snow piles through Friday morning. However, Webber says things were a little complicated as they were not able to use their main dump site.

He says crews did have to dump some of the snow near the little league fields, but they want to stay out of that area if they can due to the foreseen mess that the melting snow will create in the spring. Overall though, Webber says, everyone has done a great job.

With temperatures over the weekend forecasted to be in the mid 30’s Webber hopes that the remaining layer of snow left on streets will be melted away by Mother Nature while crews take a much deserved breather over the weekend.
