Grassley Responds To Supreme Court Deadlock On Immigration Deferred Action Plan

The United States Supreme Court announced today that they had deadlocked in the case that challenged President Barack Obama’s immigration plan. This deadlock means that an estimated five million undocumented immigrants will not be protected from deportation by the United States government. Senator Chuck Grassley said, “The Supreme Court’s decision that keeps in place the Fifth Circuit ruling is a win for the American people, and especially American workers. It underscores the rule of law and the system of government set up by the founding fathers.” Grassley added that he does believe the immigration system needs to be retooled, but it should be done in a way that does not “circumvent” Congress or attempt to rewrite immigration laws. That, he said, is contrary to the checks and balances so carefully crafted in the Constitution.
