Event Honoring Local Safety Personnel In September

Tourgee (TUHR-JAY) Street and portions of State Street will be closed in Sac City on Saturday, September 10, but it won’t be for your typical Iowa summer road construction. The Sac City Hometown Pride Program will be focused on local safety personnel and allow residents to meet those people. Bruce Perry, Chairman of the Sac City and County Hometown Pride Programs says the event is great for people to become more comfortable with these authorities.

With national news being inundated with confrontations with police and sheriffs, Perry believes this is a good time for the community to get to see what our safety officials provide for our society.

Perry doesn’t want all the adverse news to make citizens fear authorities. He hopes the event, being held on the eve of the 15th anniversary of 9/11, will remind people what these individuals do for us every day.

Attendees will be able to see safety equipment at the event, meet safety personnel and even see a helicopter fly-in. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 10 with the streets being closed an hour before and after the event.
