Registration is now open for a unique and innovative program designed for the entrepreneurial women of Iowa. The Startup Business Boot Camp for Women will be held in Manning on two Saturdays in January—the 16th and 30th—at the Warren Timmerman Shelter House in the City Park. This event comes about through a partnership between the Drake University Entrepreneurship Center and Main Street Manning and is supported by the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship Outreach. The camp is divided into two tracks; one for women contemplating the prospect of an entrepreneurial endeavor and one for women who currently own their own small business with an agenda that includes introductions to the Business Model Canvas and the support systems available from the Small Business Development Center and the Small Business Administration. They will also address legal and accounting issues, ways to find work/life balance, how to create and maintain your brand, customer development and marketing and networking opportunities with other women entrepreneurs. Both sessions will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run through the afternoon. A box lunch will be provided. Attendance for these events is capped at 16 and reservations will be on a first-come basis.
