The driver who died in a fiery accident on Highway 20, north of Early in Sac County on Saturday, April 23, has been identified by the State Medical Examiner’s Office as 64-year-old Rieng Lo of Storm Lake. Lo was killed after his vehicle, which was stopped on the eastbound travel portion of the roadway, was struck from behind by a 2007 Freightliner operated by 67-year-old Russell John Buckley of Earling. The impact caused both vehicles to cross the median and westbound lanes before coming to rest in the south ditch. Both the semi and the Lo vehicle started on fire. The crash remains under investigation by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
