A Coon Rapids Farmer has been presented with the prestigious Bob Joslin Excellence Agriculture Award during the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation’s (IFBF) 98th Annual Meeting taking place this week in Des Moines. On Wednesday, Adam Ebert, received the award for demonstrating outstanding leadership in Farm Bureau, agriculture and his community. Elbert grew up on a family farm in Cherokee County before attending Iowa State University (ISU), earning a triple major in agribusiness, international agriculture and agricultural studies. After college, he took a job with Nationwide in Des Moines, but he and his wife, Mary, knew they wanted to move back to the farm. Six years ago, the Eberts got that dream when they began growing corn, soybeans and hay in addition to raising hogs and cattle. Ebert also began speaking out for Iowa farmers and volunteering to share the story of Iowa agriculture at any opportunity. As the Joslin Award winner, Ebert will receive a $1,500 Home and Workshop certificate from John Deere, a 90-day no-payment, no interest John Deere Financial Certificate up to $5,000, a $750 FAST STOP gift card from GROWMARK and expense-paid trips to the 2017 American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) annual convention in Phoenix, Ariz. and the August, 2017 GROWMARK annual meeting in Chicago, Ill.
