Carroll County Supervisors Continue Discussions On Mallard View Changes

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors has spent the last several weeks in discussions with leadership at Mallard View about the future of the home. Supervisor Marty Danzer said the first thing that Administrator, Shari Kitt and Administrative Assistant, Stacey Peter, brought attention to is a cost-savings measure to address a drop in census to 32 residents, which is short of their break-even point of 36.

Supervisors believe that changes in several regulations, particularly a statewide initiative, are largely responsible for the decrease in Mallard View’s resident population.

Danzer said this is going to be a long process, probably over a six-month time period, and they will continue to monitor Mallard View’s progress. At a previous Supervisor meeting, there was discussion about the Mallard View board gathering information on the feasibility of making changes to become an assisted living facility or nursing home or possibly even a substance abuse recovery center.
