With such a hotly contested presidential race for this year’s election, many experts are saying they believe we may see record numbers in voter turnout. These numbers are also expected to have a positive impact on the local and state elections. To help area voters make well-informed decisions, the Carroll Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a candidate forum on Wednesday, Oct. 12, in the Carroll High School auditorium. Beginning at 7 p.m., candidates for state and county offices will answer questions that have been submitted prior to the forum, from the audience in attendance as well as from those listening to the broadcast live on 1380 KCIM who have the ability to text theirs in. The public is invited to attend and to participate by submitting those question to the Carroll Chamber of Commerce office at 407 west 5th Street in Carroll, by email to chamber@carrolliowa.com or by texting during the event to 712-790-3584. There are several contested races in this year’s election and those candidates who have been invited to participate in the Chamber forum include: incumbent Mark Segebart and Nick Serianni for the State Senate District Six seat; incumbent Brian Best and Ken Myers, who are running for the District 12 State Representative seat; and Bill Croghan and current Sheriff, Ken Pingrey who are running for the Carroll County Sheriff position. Invitees also include the candidates running unopposed: Kourtney Irlbeck for the Carroll County Auditor position; Neil Bock who is running again for the District One Carroll County Supervisor seat; Eugene Meiners for the District Three Supervisor position; and Rich Ruggles who won the primary earlier this year to be the Republican candidate for the District Five Supervisor seat that his being vacated by Mark Beardmore. Again, the candidate forum will be broadcast live on KCIM, 1380 on your AM dial.
