Audubon Student Senate Taking Strides Towards Growth

Serving in student government has always been a great experience for those involved, and the Audubon Student Senate Advisor, Carla Christensen, is working on taking their program to the next level. She is chaperoning students from the Audubon School District at the Iowa Student Leadership Conference to learn more about leading from a young age. Since she took over advising the group, Audubon has seen tremendous growth.

Audubon will even have more than just attendees at the event. Rachel Mosinski, a junior at Audubon High, is the Second Vice President Elect for the State Student Council at the upcoming conference and is the first from the school.

Christensen has seen interest in the Student Senate grow, but she is still looking to see the number of students involved swell. She has started looking to any number of leadership conferences to get involved with because the students really enjoy them she says.

The students go to these event to learn more about being effective leaders and how they can influence their peers to make good choices. The LEAD Conference takes place in Chicago in early 2017 and features student government and National Honor Society members from across the country. The Iowa Student Leadership Conference begins on Sunday, Oct. 30 and continues until Monday, Oct. 31.
