A Few Simple Reminders For A Safe Halloween

Each of our local communities has different plans for their Halloween beggars’ night, and AAA is reminding everyone to exercise caution while children are out trick-or-treating on neighborhood streets. “Drivers should be especially careful when pulling in or out of driveways and realize that normal residential speeds are way too fast when the night is full of excited children moving from house to house,” said Executive Director of the AAA Traffic Safety Foundation, Amy Stracke. A safe Halloween calls for seeing others and being seen. Motorists are reminded to reduce distractions, turn on their headlights and drive sober. Parents should walk with their children, buckle up trick-or-treaters between neighborhoods and select costumes that are light in color, the right size and don’t block vision. And trick-or-treaters need to carry a glow stick or flashlight, cross at corners, always walk facing traffic, stay in familiar neighborhoods and have an adult check their candy before it is eaten. More information about area community plans can be found on the Carroll Broadcasting website.
