Trucks Block Railroad Tracks in Grand Junction

At approximately 12:21 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, Union Pacific Railroad dispatchers notified the Greene County Sheriff’s office of several vehicles parked near the railroad tracks at the Highway 144 crossing in Grand Junction. An investigation revealed that 34-year-old Brett Everett Grundon of Grand Junction had driven the first vehicle into the ditch near the tracks and had called a second vehicle to help pull him from the ditch. The second vehicle became stuck in the tracks as well. The tracks were cleared so train traffic could resume. After field sobriety testing, Grundon was taken into custody and charged with Operation of a Motor Vehilce While Intoxicated—first offense. Grand Junction Rescue, Greene County Emergency Medical Services and the Iowa State Patrol were also dispatched to the scene as it was initially reported to be a two-vehicle accident.
