Traveling turtle exhibit to open at Sac County Conservation Building

Next week the Sac County Conservation Center will hold a Holiday Open House in celebration of the building’s 5th anniversary. They will also be welcoming some new – temporary – residents as part of a traveling exhibit. Adults and children alike can explore the world of Turtles: Secrets of the Shell. The exhibit features turtle species from across Iowa which local residents have the potential to find while exploring the area. As part of the program the Conservation Center will also be hosting a free turtle program beginning at 4:30 pm that afternoon.

The open house is an all-day event beginning at 8:00 am and runs until 6:00 pm on Wednesday, December 2, however, the traveling exhibit will only be open that day from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm for public viewing. Turtles: Secrets of the Shell is sponsored by the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa, and will be on display at the Sac County Conservation Center from December 2 through February 2, 2016. For more information about either the exhibit or the holiday open house call the Sac County Conservation Office at 712-662-4530.
