MRHC offers convenient Flu Shot Clinic next weekend

The single best way to prevent getting the flu is to get a flu vaccine each season. To make it easier and more convenient for local residents to get their flu immunization Manning Regional Hospital is hosting a Flu Shot Clinic next Saturday, October 10. MRHC RN Jill Arp says, “It’s important that everyone consider the flu shot, not only for themselves but for their families.” Those most susceptible to the flu include children under the age of 5, adults over the age of 65, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems. Arp adds that, “Vaccinations should begin as soon as vaccines are available [and that] it takes about two weeks after receiving a vaccination for the necessary antibodies to develop to protect against the influenza virus infection.”

The MRHC clinic is offering five different types of vaccines this year; including a new vaccine which protects against four strains of influenza. The different types are administered based upon a patient’s age. The Flu Shot Clinic will be held in the MRHC lobby from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm next Saturday with no appointments necessary. Payments for the vaccinations may be made through insurance or by a personal payment of $30. MRHC is also offering on-site flu shot clinics for local businesses and inquires can be directed to Arp at 712-655-8170.
