The month of November has brought with it changes to the Lake View Police Department. At the end of the month Chief Ted Helmich will be retiring and at the start of this month the small squad welcomed a new, but experienced, officer its ranks. Jeremy Behrens is the newest addition to the department and City Clerk Scott Peterson says Behrens brings over a decade of experience with him. His know-how earned the officer a signing bonus which will be paid out by the city over the course of a couple years. Peterson says that money otherwise would have been used for training costs.
Behrens previously worked for the Denison Police Department. The officer has family in the Lake View area and reports he’s enjoying working in a small town atmosphere.
