Carroll, Iowa — Representative Steve King was in Carroll yesterday (Wednesday) and shared his views on the presidential candidates. King said he has known Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders for quite some time.
King pointed out that Sanders is closer to his viewpoints on some issues than many Republicans. He is opposed to open borders and automatic citizenship and he is a staunch supporter of preserving jobs for Americans. King added, Sanders and Trump’s viewpoints converge on many fronts as well.
And according to King, immigrants are using what he considers lax policies within the current system to gain citizenship and that the US is handing out citizenship like it is candy in a parade.
When it comes to Trump’s position at the front of the Republican pack of 17 presidential candidates, King is not surprised, but does question the longevity of his campaign.
