Carroll, Iowa — Just this week, Planned Parenthood representation has said the videos being studied to determine any criminal wrongdoing have been “deceptively and misleadingly altered.” Representative Steve King said that after viewing the videos himself, he had little doubt of their veracity.
He said the he has supported the defunding of Planned Parenthood for many years, and that an effort mounted in 2011 came close to accomplishing that goal. He says the videos have made it clear to the general public why Congress has continued their efforts to eliminate funding.
King has been surprised, however, that some of the leadership on his own side of the aisle has said it may difficult, if not impossible, to take away Planned Parenthood’s funding and that further study is warranted.
King asserted this will be a major fight as they resume session in September and he will be doing his best to have language in place that will accomplish the goal Congress set out to reach in 2011.
