Bids Received For Water Treatment Plant Filter Rehabilitation Project

Bids for the construction of the Water Treatment Plant Filter Rehabilitation project in 2016 were opened on Nov. 17, and Director of Public Works, Randy Krauel presented the Carroll City Council with three bids from Grundman-Hicks, LLC, Rice Lake Construction Group and Woodruff Construction, LLC. Each one of the proposals was comprised of a base bid, then a bid for add alternates that will cover prospective work that would only be completed if deemed necessary following a full inspection of the filters. Krauel said it is in all of their best interest to lock in the rates for any additional work now.

Krauel also informed the council that the plant is 20 years old and this is the first time this has had to be done. He said his research revealed that most water treatment plants are going 18 years or longer without major rehabilitation. He recommended the council approve awarding the contract to the lowest bidder within the project specifications.

The cost of the project will be paid out of the Water Utility Fund and the Water Utility Depreciation Fund.
