Josh Turner (Ogden, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Northwestern, beginning this fall.
Turner, the son of Mark and Joette, is a 6’5” pitcher/infielder from Ogden High School. Last season Ogden finished 20-5. Turner was named First Team All-State, First Team All-District, and First Team All-Conference as a junior. Turner finished with a 7-1
Eric Thompson of Grand View (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Wrestler of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Thompson was selected based on his performances from Jan. 23 - 29.
Thompson, a 6-foot, 285 lbs., sophomore from Shell Rock, Iowa, went 6-0 last week in the heavyweight class at two separate events. His highlight came with a 5-2 decision over NCAA Division I
The Northwestern College football team adds 10 recruits on a very busy National Signing Day for head coach Kyle Achterhoff and his coaching staff. The 2012 recruit class now totals 12, with two players already committing to Northwestern.
“Signing day is a great way to start solidifying the 2012 recruiting class,” commented head football coach Kyle Achterhoff. “This is a
College football’s second season came to and end on Wednesday with national signing day. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz signed a class of 24 players that includes two running backs: Greg Garmon of Erie, Pennsylvania and Barkley Hill of Cedar Falls.
With attrition at that position Ferentz says both will be able to compete for playing time right away.

One week after being named the Midwest Conference Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week, Grinnell College’s Megan Huey ‘12 has gained national attention.
Huey, a 5-11 forward from Wichita, Kan. (West Des Moines Valley), has been named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week.

Morningside College is ranked fifth nationally in the latest NAIA Division II women’s basketball poll released Monday.
The Mustangs defeated Dordt College 81-66 and Midland University 102-52 last week to move up two spots after they had been ranked seventh in last week’s poll. Morningside has an 18-6 record and is second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) standings
